Hi there, this is Rafiki the Land Rover Defender 110. He's from the year 2000 and has a TD5 chassis en body, with a 300tdi engine. For us this is the ultimate travel vehicle because it's the perfect mix between size and capability. And it's an all mechanical engine without electronics, ideal for extended trips far from the regular service guy.
The outside of our Defender has been stuffed with equipment we need on a trip. We've added a Tembo 4x4 Tourer rooftop tent for a good night sleep, an ARB awning to protect us from the elements, Zarges aluminium storage boxes for general camping stuff, a telescopic ladder from Autohome to reach the roofrack, a diesel jerrycan and a Front Runner water jerrycan.
All together this created a very capable off-road traveller which is very usable in the field. We want to bring a fair amount of stuff with us, but keep our footprint small. For us this setup is perfect since it lets us go everywhere we want, not being easily restricted by its size. Compact but competent.
The inside has been equipped with everything you may need. We wanted to create a expedition capable interior with a cozy feeling. Inside you'll find lots of storage cabinets and drawers, 230V & 12V outlets, a Indel B compressor fridge and a bench which can be easily converted into a two person bed.
Normally we'll sleep in the rooftent, but in some cases we want to sleep inside, lets say in a storm or a spooky place. When that's the case we have the possibility to create a bed for two persons in the back. It's a bit cozy but works fine. The flooring we used vinyl with a wooden look to create a homey feeling.
